Create and use API keys

Create a key

1. Open My Profile → Tracking Setup.
2. Create a new API key and give it a name you'll recognise.
3. Copy the key straight away — it's only shown once.

You can regenerate or revoke keys from the same place. A key only ever has access to your own account's data.

Use the key

Send it in a header with every request:

Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY

or

x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY

Prefer headers over putting the key in the URL — URLs end up in logs and browser history.

Rate limits

Each response includes X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers. API keys can make up to 600 requests per minute. If you go over, you'll get a 429 response with a Retry-After header telling you how many seconds to wait.
